well definetly such cold temperatures will weaken stock pipes

Nothing. It's not in any way related to the failure of the plug. It mainly functions as a gauge for boost, revs and throttle anyway.

This is exactly what I thought as well. I brought that up to him, but he doesn't think the severe cold was related either.

Where is the freeze out plug located?? I'm leaking coolant but the dealership thinks its a blown head gasket!

It's tough to get at... I'll try to take a picture with my digital camera. You could have a busted gasket. I'm the only one I know of that ever blew off this plug.

Your looking at one of two scenarios with the core plug coming out.
First, it was not installed straight from the factory. Anyone who has ever installed them can tell you they need to be in striaght or they can pop out.
Second, the often ar what gives when the block freezes because they are movable not like cast iron block. This would mean the coolant was high on water and low on antifreeze.

They are in fact core plugs used to block off holes used for the manufacturing of the block itself. Everyone calls them freeze plugs because when the coolant freezes in the block, they pop out.
