Question Help... car wont boost over 3 pounds

So straight to the point. My buddy has a evo 8 and he popped the clutch in a parking spot and popped his i/c over a parking barrier then reversed off it and torn the intercooler off the mounting bracket and pulled the boost pipe off from the turbo. He doesnt know too much about cars so im fixing it. So i remounted the intercooler and put the piping back on. Now when he drives it it wont boost over 3 pounds and when the turbo starts to spool it almost sounds like a supercharger... Kinda i cant really describe it. I was looking around and people say its a boost leak but it doesnt sound like a boost leak. I dont really know that much about evos, so any help would be awesome.

I'd guess its a giant boost leak somewhere and might not even be making the 3lbs... your boost gauge might be off.

Don't keep doing this as it'll overspin the turbo and ruin it. Do a boost leak test and find your leak.

Please note if a post is in the wrong section you can report it and one of the mods can move it.

Mine started squealing like a supercharger and from what I read it could be the gasket and jpipe connection to the turbo. Pushing the air through it and making that high pitch squeal...just a suggestion. I would double check everything is connected and do a boost leak test

theres gotta be a major hole somewhere... check the little black pipe coming off the turbo, and just double check everything.. It is for sure a massive hole/leak somewhere..

How about checking your wastegate arm. If the pipe somehow pushed it off the turbo or damaged it, it can be very hard to build boost.

That is possible, but probably more likely that it would build a ton of boost (unless it broke off).
