compared 2 fp ht3586 turbos - different exhaust housings?

so i was comparing my fp hta86 turbo to a friends - and his exhaust housing 4 bolt outlet flange extends farther than mine, about an inch farther. both are .82ar housings, but his is stamped garrett, and mine is stamped precision. does anyone know if fp utilizes different exhaust housings from different manufacturers? should it matter as long as the specs are the same? like i said, the only difference is that his exhaust outlet flange extends out farther.

well you already know they are interchangeable, but if you're asking if FP actually uses a precision housing.. i wouldn't think so. the only other housing i know that they use/offer is Tial.

I would call them tho just to find the answer direct. AMS uses custom .63 AR on their variant also. other then that not really sure.

sounds like you have the T31 style housing and your friend has the GT.

hmm...you learn something new every day. i google "t31 vs gt" and read one poster saying that the gt housing is better, despite both being .82ar. another person quoted garrett as saying there would be negligible difference...

so comparing the two, the gt garrett housing has a 3" outlet, and the t31 a 2.5" outlet. most of us evo guys run the 2.5" outlet due to AC clearance issues. other modify that 3" gt housing, ie, shorten it or go vband. good stuff to know.
