Trust Spec M cooler VS ETS/Buschur etc

Hey guys,

Have access to the above kit for the right price, however don't want to do things twice.
Car will eventually have a red/ef3/GTX76 sized kit on it but is stock ATM, so im planning on 450whp.

Will this cooler kick the bucket regarding IAT's for a sprint/road-race car?

Cheers Ben

never heard of a trust intercooler, but buschur and ets both make excellent intercoolers. i have an ets and the craftsmanship is flawless.

I have no doubt it'll cool better than OEM but as mentioned ETS, BR, AMS, CBRD coolers are tested and proven time and time again man

I think that for the Red you'll want to go with a thicker core than a 3-incher. The advice on here usually favors an intercooler featuring the 3.8 inch Garrett core. This core is considered to be a highly efficient heat exchanger.

You can get the Garrett core in an ETS(upon request), Buschur Racing "Race" IC, and the CBRD IC, to name a few.

If weight is a major concern then you may want to research that issue before purchasing. Although, the general belief is that to be an efficient heat sink....the heavier the better usually.

The Buschur/ETS cores can come in 3.0 3.5 3.8 and 4.0(with minor mods to the crash bar)

I don't know whether or not the BR IC's with 3.0", and 3.5" cores use Garrett cores. I do know for a fact that the 3.8" IC, called the "Race" IC does in fact use a Garrett core.

Also, I don't think that Buschur Racing makes an IC with a 4" core. When you think about it, it doesn't make any sense to make both a 3.8" core IC and 4.0" IC as well(only 0.20" difference?). So, I don't think that they manufacture an IC with a 4.0" core. However, ETS does make an IC with a 4" ETS core. A few years back, when the BR Race IC was initially introduced, Buschur stated that it had a 4.0" core, but upon closer measurement it was discovered to be a 3.8" core. I guess that he had had a few too many, or his calipers were out of adjustment. LOL. JK.

Buschur Racing used to make something called the BFIC(or are they making it once again?). The BFIC intercooler had a 4.5" Garrett core. I think that his fab shop doesn't currently have end tanks for this intercooler anymore(although you could call the BR shop to see if they have any tanks left). If they have the tanks, then they will order a 4.5" core from Garrett and make you up a BFIC.

Garrett still makes the 4.5" core. And ETS will make you up an IC utilizing the Garrett 4.5" core if you so request. ETS will pretty much make you anything that you want. They'll fab up a 3", a 3.5", a 3.8", a 4.0", a 4.5", a 5.0", right on up to a 6" intercooler if you so desire.

Cheers for the replies.
I remember JB posting some data on one of the Jap cooler kits, can't find it fir the life of me though.

Either the ETS 3.5 or Buschur race were the two I was looking at, the Greddy one is off a mates car that I had access too for the right price. I think I'll just wait and do it once.
