this, it's a large banjo bolt on the top of the t-case, it also uses two copper crush washers so if those are ruined or missing it's gonna leak, the pump is going to push fluid out from there every time you drive the car

OK, Most likely what you have the other guys are on target, but I have a long story about the Tcase. Not much of it helpful here, except to make sure folks understand there is a reservoir at the top of it. You can't see it in the car, nor reach it.

You can see from my TCase pic. Tape around the center of the TCase, and if you look closely you will see that this is holding on a rectangular cap. On my salvage purchased EVO that cap was never installed with the 4 bolts expected. So, this seems to have been leaking for some time. However, I was always so **** and up to date with my fluid service that I masked the problem. (always filling back up before it got too empty essentially) Recently the TCase failed on me (that's why its on a palette to Shep's). When I was removing the TCase that cap, I never new anything about, fell out of the car. I hadn't change the fluid in a year, and that meant I was no longer covering up for this issue.

You can clearly see the caked on oil dirt residue on the top of the TCase that this has been going of for some time. At the track I noticed the "death whine" and got under the car to check for oil. I made the conclusion, incorrectly, that no oil, meant I wasn't leaking any, and that it was full of oil. For some moronic reason I didn't open it to 'top it off'. I cut my day short and drove home. I only got about 100 miles and boom.

See where the fluid is coming from, and if you can reach above the drive shaft forward onto the rear of the tcase for signs of that reservoir leaking.
