Im looking for information to swade me one way or another, fix my lsd, or fix and upgrade to 12 plate the same time.
I don't want to do the fix only and need/want more lock and have to pull the diff again.
Does the stock corrected lsd produce a usable amount of oversteer on summer street tires?
Does the stock corrected lsd produce a usable amount of oversteer on race slicks?
All saying stock like supension settings with the evo's natural oversteer
I'm currently on star specs and will be getting slicks once the stars are gone. I mainly road course the car not much street.
From reading and recommendation and what not... I pretty much set on getting the 12 plate.
From what I gather, correct me if i'm wrong, the corrected lsd is a great improvement, and its the way the car should be. Especially on the street. On the track not much an improvement to take out the push or understeer.
And with the 12 plate, an improvement over the correct stock lsd. Could be a little much for the street, but on the track a must to muster some desired oversteer through a corner.
And then you have the super duper aftermarket diffs (track diff) which change the diff to your spec and strengthen it, biggest change being 1.5way. Which gives some lock up during coast. Which to my guess creates better turn-in on the track.
Go with a 12 plate like a TRE, and if you've got the money go Cusco or Carbonetics 1.5 way. This will be a fix for understeer on corner EXIT, not entry just to be clear. The slight lock on decel of a 1.5 way is actually a little worse for turn in/off throttle.Originally Posted by 93 3gt vr4

Stock corrected LSD is okay depending on set up. In my opinion it never hurts to have more lock up - you can modulate throttle from there. An ACD tune will improve corner entry and exit, another thing to consider

I recall from reading a previous thread a few months ago someone posted something like this:
Rearrange 8 plates<Weir 12 plate (1 way)<TRE 12 plate (1.5 way)
However, Weir is currently working on a 1.5 way rear LSD so I'm personally waiting on that (cuz of location and turnaround time). If I lived on the East Coast, I probably would have gotten a TRE upgrade by now.

Thanks for the replys!
I put the weir kit in last saturday morning. Only difference i have noticed so far, is the rear growels a little when turning under acceleration. I'm sure its normal.
I'll put some feedback up next week, as i'm going to gingerman raceway. Hoepfully return with some good results and rear end still in one piece.

I've been very happy with the Weir 12-plate setup on my car, but I haven't had it on track yet, so we'll see after April 28-29.

So I caved in and got the 1.5 way 12 plate rear diff. :-) its in the mail as we speak. How much LSD gear fluid should I add when I get it?
After gingerman raceway, doing the 12 plate was a decent modification. I was able to rotate the rear out slightly while the tires were cold, and the car didn't push as much through the corners. I do get a little chatter once the plates warm up. Not a biggy. And i'm using the stock lsd oil.
