A different turboback question......

im thinking of getting a turbo back exhaust , but i want to keep it quiet as best i can. is it worth getting a 3" dp , high flow cat and keeping the stock cat back? or would the stock cat back hold it up to much to gain any power? also any cat backs that are really quiet? herd b&b is good.... thanks for the help in advance.

my 3" turboback isn't very loud and that's with a testpipe too!

the evo isn't a very loud car in general. i wouldn't go with either of your choices personally. i would suggest a 3" turboback with a high-flow cat. you'll get some good power.

I have HKS DP, Perrin pipe, and Tanabe cat-back. Sounds EXCELLENT! I couldn't be happier. Anything quieter would be too quiet. Anything louder would be too loud. It's just right.

putting a 3" dp without putting a 3" catback will make you loose power.

I have heard people said B&B is very good exhaust and has a lot of gain in horsepower and quiet too. I'm still confusing which to get either B&B, AMS or TurboXS. This is driving me crazy.

Trust me, go with the B&B. I have a turbo back, turbo spool is much better and the sound is perfect. It is real quite at idle, no resonace at cruise and a mean wail at full throttle. Nice rumble at idle. Power is better, dunno how much but power band is MUCH wider. BTW, my car has no other power mods.

Don't discount Buschur's turboback with the Magnaflow option. It even costs less than most the others direct from Buschur...

So you have a B&B turbo back which is with the test pipe too. I'm wondering if you have a check engine light come on?

Yes I have the cat delet pipe. I install the pipe when I am doing track or autocrossing days. On the street I install my cat. I haven't heard of a high flow cat that will not turn on the light nor have I heard of a signal simulator that works reliably to keep the light off. For me the smell is enough to keep the cat on, power differance with the cat along with the full exhaust without the pipe is really small (butt dyno).

I have a OBDII scanner, I just reset the fault codes, perform all short test and achive ready status when I re-install the cat.
