WBO2 > LSU Sensors 4.2 vs. 4.9

According to information (here) the 4.9 has it's adavntages. What gets me most is the advertised "no need for calibration".
Qs:
  1. Is the amount of generated data/readings too much for a straight replacement up from 4.2 in regard to e.g. Zeitronix?
  2. Will the updated to 4.9 Zeitronix still be compatible w/ EvoScan? If so, will I get better resolution on logging?
Someone done the switch from 4.2 to 4.9 w/ first hand experience? What's in the box then?

the only thing I've heard about the new 4.9 sensors is they're designed to be more accurate in the leaner lambda ranges (>1) for applications like direct injection and diesels. Probably why you don't see a bunch of hoopla about them on the motorsports boards. I have no definitive references though to back that up.

the "calibration free" part comes from the controller chip they're using. The same feature works on a LSU 4.2 sensor too with the appropriate controller. (see AEM analog WBO2 as an example)

You'd have to check with zeitronix about interchangeability in their system.

edit:
upon further research, it seems the real difference is in the heater circuits. The 4.9's reach operating temp faster and can operate in colder EGT's than the 4.2's can. The accuracy between the two is the same.

hi griceiv, THY for your reply.
my undersatnding is that the 'no need for calibration' derives from the sensor rather than the controller. on the accuracy side though, it may as well be related to the controller's capabilities but is not pointed as such per se. if the senor delivers higher frequency for output which would lead to more resoultion... bla bla bla.
I guess I will write Zytronix, I hpoe they're in the knows and have enlightability.
And I will share... just in case 'no calibration' is someones else's desire.

you're partially correct, the "no calibration" feature is a combination of the sensor and the controller, but both 4.2 and 4.9 sensors are factory calibrated the same way (laser etching the built in resistor located in the connector to set the base calibration). However if you're not using the newer controllers you still have to do a free air calibration even with the factory calibrated sensors.

I'm not positive (i really have no knowledge of how they were designed), but I *strongly* suspect that simply plugging in a LSU4.9 sensor to a zeitronix box is not going to net you a calibration free setup.
