shell rotella t6 5w-40
Im sorry I dont mean to make another oil thread or debate, but I was just curious about this oil. I hear alot of good things about in a quick google search, i was wondering if any evo owners are using this oil? and how they like it? I did searched and couldnt find much, im thinking of making the switch and just wanted to see what you guys though. btw is this a good oil to run in nyc winters?

It is a great oil. They sell it at Walmart so you can get it cheap. Lots of people with turbo cars run it.
The oil sample results look compareable to the oils FP recommends for their turbos.
The 5W40 makes cold starting easier on the engine but considering you are not going to reach the higher operating temperatures for the 40 weight, you may want to use another oil for the winter or bypass your oil cooler.

thanks for the quick reply I heard this oil is good for the winter, basically a all year round oil?. And its great this oil is cheap, available to pick up at a local auto supply store and proven!
btw i have a 35r on a stock block making around 460whp

Ideally, you keep an eye on your oil temps and pick your oil accordingly for your driving situation.
However, 5W40 should be fine on the engine/turbo in the cold months and I would definitely recommend not running anything heavier (ie: 20W50).

I've been using it in my cars and bikes for the last 5 years. The new T6 formula has a little less ZDDP than the old version from a few years ago, but I haven't seen had any issues. I just pulled my 57K mile engine apart and everything looked great, but in all fairness, it's only been running Rotella for 5K miles. My GSC S2 cams and FP Red turbo appear visually as good as new.
