If in fact your Evo has the HKS cams, then you should be fine with the stock springs and retainers.

Check out JMS tuning. They are in texas. Not sure where you are compared to them but might be worth the drive.

Also, I have a set of used PTE 880's if you are interested. 150 shipped.

PM me if you are interested in them.

Thanks

Why would you need to upgrade your internals? I've ran the stock 9 for almost a year until the Green and I was like the stock 9 was a waste of money and time.

.
Idk man just if you are wanting to run high boost, which in my case I won't go past 25psi. I was really looking into the white or green, but i just felt like i needed to start of small even though fp are stock like i preferred the 9 stock for now.

That's exactly what a guy at a performance shop told me lol, but I'll just take it a step at a time. For now I just want to be at a hp range where once in a while I can have fun smashing other cars
Is it possible?

^^^ It is very possible. The 9 turbo is very capable if you can find a good tuner/build with quality parts. Do yourself a favor though, get a NICE intercooler/intercooler kit like an ETS 3.5-4in or a Buschur Race core. If you are planning on pushing the 9 turbo its going to be blowing hot air, thus you will benefit from the large core intercoolers. I picked up about 40hp from stock core/piping to an ETS 3.5 and short route kit. I am running 30psi and as we know that's about the efficiency limit of the 9 turbo.

Good luck with the setup man! This is just the beginning.

Thanks man that's what I was thinking. You think its possible to just send it in for like a trade to another evo ix turbo but with ported job? Of course I would pay a difference because I know it wouldn't be an even trade.

Thanks
I have a 3" ETS core is that good enough for now? I imagine it is since its already a + compared to stock. Im going with ETS ICP, but im still not sure about the short route. It seems like when you take off the stock battery to the mini, there's like a huge opening in the engine bay lol so i kind of want to stick with the stock route.
As far as pushing the turbo to its limit i will probably get it around 25psi
But like you said, "is just the beginning"

Ill probably end up heading that way for my tune. Ill just have to wait till i get everything installed so i wont have to keep going back and forth.

FP only does conversions on IX turbos I think. They no longer build anything based on the VIII turbo. I am not 100% sure though.

Wouldnt 9 turbo make more then just 15hp over 8 if using e85?

I plan on doing same thing soon.

First off, welcome to the family, my friend. Secondly, the stock IX turbo has proven its worth time and time again. Like has been stated, the stock IX turbo with the correct supporting mods, E85, and a nice tune is a beast for the 2.0L engine. In your case, if E85 is not readily available, you can easily have your tuner set you up with a nice map switching option with pump-93/E85. Do not worry about internals at this point. You have no idea how fun 400whp/375wtq can be on that stock IX turbo. I believe once you get a tune, you will be able to identify the shortfalls in the set up at that point which you should share your thoughts with everyone so that we keep you on the right path. As for tuners, Jorge and the JMS Racing crew are fantastic. If you are closer to Dallas, KevinD and Evolution Dynamics are great as well.
