Mivec Cam gear question.

What would happen if the Mivec cam gear were getting too much or too little oil into the reservoir? I want to know the answer to this before I edit my post to type up the problem I'm having. thanks.

No codes thrown. My problem is that my car when accelerating under heavy load and in high gear low rpm will feel like I hit a brick wall when I floor it. It doesn't do it right away, but if I'm under heavy boost it will either start bucking or feel like I'm hitting a brick wall. I've pulled the injectors and those look fine, not sure what it could be. It doesn't do it every time either, and it almost never does it if I floor the car from 1st and run it through gears. I can rev up to 7k rpm before it cuts out.

Things I don't hear:
Mechanical grinding
clinking or clacking

I should probably take video or logs and post it in here. btw I can free rev without a problem, this only happens when the car is under load.

what makes you think it's the Mivec gear?
Have you logged AFR?
Have you logged ignition timing?
Do you have any boost leaks?
Have you logged fuel pressure?
Has your car been modified since your last tune? (if it's been tuned)

The reason I think it's in the cam gear area is because I have a p0365 (camshaft position sensor) code. I put a new sensor on and it went away and the car did the same thing. The people who tuned me said that my timing was not backing out and that it stayed 2º advanced.

I know that the Mivec cam gear is supposed to advance a lot of timing in the lower rpm to get the turbo to spool up and gradually back timing advancement to 0 as you approach the higher rpms.

did you replace the mivec cam angle sensor or the exhaust camshaft cam angle sensor?
The exhaust side is used to time your injectors/ignition, if that is faulty it will cause your car to run very poorly (if at all).

This sounds about right because when the car starts acting up it will go loan and then catch up with itself. Also when starting the car it will idle really rich 10.0 : 1 and then back down stoichiometric.

What does the Mivec cam sensor control other than mivec?

it's position feedback to the ECU only

I'm having the exact same issue with a costumer car and the only thing I can think of being wrong also is the mivec cam gear. Did you ever find out what was wrong? Did it end up being the cam gear?
