drive train noise

For about 2 months now i have had a noise coming from what sounds like rear end a high pitched whine that gets louder withspeed but only had high pitch when on the throtle. I purchased a used rear diff said to be off of a stock evo no issues at all, install it and i still have same whine or squeal from rear of car. a friend of mine worked for mitsu had atool you clipped gator clips with microphones to diff areas on car so we did that one on each rear wheel bearing one near drive shaft and another by rear diff, noisest part was rear diff. Howeveroticed drive shaft was off a little big, possibly bad rear carrier bearing on drive shaft, so i am in process of swapping driveshafts with a friend of mine to test it out. any input is greatly appreciated hopefullydidnt get scammed by a member on here or sold a defective part

Try using the chassis ears on the transfer case.

Sometimes when they make noise, they transfer it and it sounds like a rear diff.

will do, ive had a few good local tuners and a mitsu tech all think somethig in rear i am just irritated at this point and dont want to continue to buy and install parts that may or may not fix problem ex rear diff, unless i was sold another bad one. i need to find a good dif local to swap with for a day or a rear driveshaft with the bearing in working order to test that, its def coming from rear so dont think its the tcase death whine

Have you or a shop done any fluid changes to the tcase or trans lately? How many miles when you got it or now?

side note as to why i am leaning towards carrier bearings, when you're driving with good amount of load on drive line in taller gear but low boost when i let off it seems to clunk 2 times like the drive shaft has play or give when i let off gas. and if ingear then i let off then tap can def hear clunking in driveline that is fairly loud as if it has slop there too just a few things i thought i might ad to help get feedback
