i now run the motul 300v 15w50, but i want to use another oil for the next time i change oil, is the mobil 1 race formula 5w50 a good option or shall i use castrol?

i suggest checking with your engine builder what oil they recommend. the mobil 1 race formula oil is a very good oil but it doesn't have detergents for daily use. if you do use this you will need to change oil frequently. if you have amsoil available the zrod is a good option. another option is the vr1. i personally use shell t6 since its has higher zddp than the standard oils.

Looser clearances require thicker oil. Like Andrew said, check with your builder. As far as a brand goes, make sure you pick up an oil with a high Zinc content. Amsoil, Valvoline VR-1, and Brad Penn are all good choices.

You make a good point. Incidentally, the MOTUL 300v is a racing oil as well. So, I don't know whether or not it has the proper additive package for a daily driven car and how frequently it needs to be changed.

I was reading somewhere that not all ZDDP additives are created equal. That there are different types of ZDDP. Some are more beneficial than others. I'll try to find the article.
