Lost spark.....two inside cylinders....spooning up COP
I have heard of this happening with a TM Works kit too. Guys car blew the same coil 2 or 3 times then switched to a spoolinup kit and its been fine since.
Could this have anything to do with the coil charge time settings in the rom? Perhaps need modification for the denso coils? Doesn't really explain why certain cylinders would be more commonly affected though.

For me they kept blowing my fuses, so to remedy the problem I went from a 20 to a 30. Well that wasnt a bright idea; ended up cooking my engine harness from the coils to the cam sensor.... Either way lesson learned, stock coils still make power with out issues. Everyones experiences may very, then again I did by them used....

I'm glad to see i'm not the only one who had issues with this kit. Love spending $400 and getting a product that doesn't even work as good as a stock two-coil system. I had issues with spark blowout on the dyno with this kit, kept misfiring at peak tq and skewing all my numbers. Was especially bad when doing racegas tune on 27 psi with BBK. Wouldn't make any power because of spark blowout at peak tq. Just had a huge dip in hp/tq at peak tq spot. I don't know what the issues with these things are. I kept getting corrosion it looked like, on the top of the sparkplugs where they met the coilpacks. Even using di-electric grease didn't solve that issue. Went back to stock coils and haven't had issues since. Now this kit just sits in my garage. USELESS.
The kit has worked great for me (used coil kit) for a couple yrs now on E-85 and 36-38psi boost. Matt is a great guy and I'm not sure why you guys are having issues, but if you give him a chance to rectify the situation, I'm sure he'll come through for ya'.
When I called him about the issue, he said he had never heard of anything like it and to replace the coils... I have ohmed the harness out and the wiring is good to go... just kept blowing coils...
Same issue here on an early Evo 5.
Killed two OEM and a Superspark coil. (always cylinder 2-3)
We suspected this was overheating on the track. (road racing in 90+ heat)
Replaced with a COP and killed the same coil a month later, replaced that coil and no issues now for 12+ months.

I've had the Spoolin Up "Used" kit since 2009 without any issues. I thought I saw a how to on how to test the COP kit somewhere. I wonder what kits are having the issues ie... older kits or newer ones?
