Transmission and T-Case Pulled! Now for some questions

Well to start, I am pretty good spinning a wrench so i do most of my own work. I dont post much in here but I am pretty much on this website daily and read till i fall asleep at night Tons of good information using the search button!

I pulled my transmission and transfer case using this = http://evomoto.com/tech_info.php?tec...2b08b02bb2c96e

Worked great read it about three times then went a did the job, worked great.

I have a built 2.3l now with a BB Fp Black all bolt ons. I have my transfer case and transmission pulled to upgrade and fix some issues. I have done some searching around and it seems most issues are with 5th gear and its syncro. My issue is with 3rd and 4th gear. I bought the car used with a 4th gear grind in September. Pretty much would grind anything over 45oo rpms. So I shifted below that which is pretty easy to do. Babied the car before I put it away for winter. Third gear began to grind just before I put it away. Which it never used to do.

With the oil drained from the transmission, I have actual gear/synro tooth stuck to my drain bolt. It didn't look like fine shavings were in the gear which seemed weird with the gear/synco tooth stuck to the drain plug. it was about a quarter inch long and maybe 1/8 inch tall shard. My question is has anyone ever pulled the transmission apart before? I have never pulled on apart and I really have no intentions of fixing it myself, but i would like to know if there is a way I can look in side easily with out things falling out of place. I noticed a black access panel that looks like I could pull off easily but i dont know if ill be able to see anything. I will be sending it off to Shep after I run it by him tomorrow. Would just like to be informed when I talk to him. I dont really want to send my transmission with an open check.

If your sending it off to Shep I would leave it alone.

Pulling the trans apart is pretty simple, the first time I did an evo trans I just used the service manual for specs.

This isn't a difficult transmission to work on for those who like messing with gearboxes. However, the OP stated he was going to send it off. There really isn't anyway of examining the interior without pulling it apart. Better to just spend your time getting it crated. Shep won't screw you.

Yeah I see your point, Shep will be getting a call when I get out of work at 4:30. The bolts that Shep upgrades on the T-case 8mm to 10mm are on the outer case plates? or are they internal? if they are external that would make it easy to check if the Tcase has been upgraded as well.
