Lowest possible safe boost?

I was wondering what is the lowest amount of boost are cars can do? I want to make turn my boost all the way down with the Xede but I don't have clue if I can damage something if I set it too low. Anyone know how many lbs of boost would be the least amount I can run safely?

Dude, that's the wierdest question ever Well, you can turn your boost as low as you want It won't hurt the engine. But remember, the boost will go as low as the wastegate permits. usually around 11- 12 psi. I think the car might run too rich, if you keep the same MAP that runs on 19 psi.....

See that is what I was looking for. So probably 12 psi because of the wastegate. Actually I was thinking of making a whole new Map for the Xede running at 12psi and then lean it out. That way I can try to create a gas efficient map. I need to get better gas mileage than the occasional 20mpg I get.

Keep your foot off of the gas pedal.

Exactly a low boost for valet and friends, also for trips to work in the morning. I don't need to be driving crazy in the mornings, I don't usually wake up until I get to work.

I never lowered the boost on my car.. always ran 1.2 low and 1.3 high .. never tried to run lower.. I somehow thought the car can run zero boost.. but guess I'm wrong..

I think Vishnu already has a valet map available. It not only drops the boost but pulls tons of timing and makes the car a complete turd to drive...

Just keep you foot out of it, don't go more than 1/2 throttle, granny shift @ 4000, and stay off the boost for the most part.

that's what I am doing during my breakin and I am getting a consistant 22mpg

Its hard to push half throttle though, especially when you love the feel of a turbo! Thats why I need to turn it down for everyday driving.
