Speaking of overcooling, incase you upgrade the pan later. I've got a stock cooler and the Race fab pan. It takes forever to get the oil up to temp and if it rains the temp falls below 140* . I blocked the front end off but some air still gets to the cooler.

If its less then 60* outside its even worse. I've thought about deleting the cooler and reinstalling it if I get to the road course.

We are blessed with a great cooling system compared to other platforms but its something to consider if you drive the car in the winter.

It would close the bypass/direct all oil to the cooler sooner.

It's true. In the winter, I could drive around town all day and never see the temp gauge go above 140*. This with 6.5qts of oil, a Setrab cooler, e85, and waterless coolant. When I decided to drive my car on the street, one time, I wrapped the cooler in a foil/insulation/etc mess that I made. It helped a bit. It's still REALLY hard to get temps up. Luckily for me, I don't DD the car and hardly drive it on the street anyway. In cold weather, it won't get to operating temp unless I drive it relatively hard. So, I wait for it to get warm outside

When the oil temperature is cold, there is a dual flow circuit.
The oil can either go bypass or go through the oil cooler.
Cold oil has a lot of resistance, so the oil cooler becomes a large restriction and a large pressure drop.
So lets just assume only 10% of the oil goes through the oil cooler (I dont know the exact number).
When the oil temp gets to around 85ºC, the oil cooler thermostat extends and blocks off the bypass port.
So the oil has to go through the oil cooler.
BUT there is a spring on the end of the thermostat which opens at around 14-15psi of differential pressure.
So if the oil cooler pressure loss across the core is 14psi, it will start to bypass again. This means a blocked oil cooler will still allow the engine to receive oil pressure.

If you're driving around and you're not reaching the desired oil temperature, block off your oil cooler (Externally block it off, e.g. with cardboard or aluminimum tape).
You want to reduce the amount of cooling air that goes through the core.
There is oil flowing to the oil cooler when the oil is cold. It's just a reduced amount.

No need. If you wrap the cooler, nothing hits it.

I have all the OEM stuff in place, yes. It's easier than going all-out managing aero with vents and other stuff. I'm lazy
