damn stupid UPS! ya i wouldn't risk that either.. if its bent outside it can be bent inside also and will change the distance the compressor cover is to the compressor wheel like someone already stated.

Yeah this is why I refuse to send anything via UPS. Last year they dropped off a great condition trans from a seller on here, unwrapped it and half the bell housing that was still attached to the wrapping tape fell out. Made a claim and fought....to this day nothing from them. It looked like they had dropped it from 10 stories up and said not sufficient packaging, it's crazy how crappy they treat everything. Never had one problem with Fedex

That happens when the tbolt is to tight. Could it be a used cover?

Their antisurge inlet is very flexible. I damaged it on my HTA green by tightening the clamp too hard on it. Mine looked much worse than that, had a good 1/4inch indent. I did my best to bend it back to original shape (in fact, after I did my best to repair it, it looks like urs does now)...threw the intake back on and have been running it ever since. As far as I can tell, no ill effects. No changes in driving, spool up, sound, etc. It's lame that it occurred but ur looking at a UPS dispute and another long wait from FP since nothing gets done in a timely manner with them. I'd honestly just gently try to mold it back into shape and don't use a t-bolt clamp to tighten down that coupler...

I bent mine like that last year doing a boost leak test. I haven't had any issues with it.

Not that it's definitely FP's fault, but there's no way in hades I'd settle for "bending it back" after I paid $2500 for a stock frame turbo when it arrives like that.

Dang guys no need to break out a ratchet and cheater bar to tighten down the t-bolt it's just thin aluminum.

Glad they are fixing it , although I honestly don't see it causing a problem. As people stated it is tight tolerances between the housing and wheel, but it's not gonna change the shape of the housing (the area that surrounds the compressor wheel) that easy..... U should have sold it to me for pennies on the dollar and told them that it must have got lost in shipping.

damn id have them send it back shouldnt be a long turn around time if there exchanging the anti surge housings, as im sure they keep them in stock. As far as t bolt clamps on the intake pipe and up to the turbo, there not necessary, post turbo to throttle body definite upgrade, but pre turbo theres no air compressing, therefore worm clamps will work as long as you dont overtighten them and break the clamps. I run 26 psi all day and never have had one clamp pre turbo or on my recirc pipe pop, its all about fitting the coupler on even and feeling for the beginning of the expanded part of the flange, then tighten it almost to the point of it not wanting to turn anymore.
Take it back, dont accept a damaged part, make the parcel service eat that, teach them to drop a package in transit. haha

Yeah, now I'm second guessing doing this after one person that had the same thing happen and take a month to fix. At work now, but once I get home I'll inspect everything else and if it's that thin, I'll try to bend it back and be extra careful installing the intake to it. I careful checked everything else and didn't notice any other problems but wanted to make sure it won't hamper performance. If it looks good, I might just slap it on. I'll call FP again in the morning and see what they say.

If FP says run it, I guess run it..lol But be reeaaaaal careful if you try and bend it back. Aluminum cracks pretty easy...

I would want new if it was me spending 2500.. that will kill the resale value if you decide to sell down the road

Well got home and started to wonder how fragile that inlet was. Put a small pair of needle-nosed pliers wrapped around 2 cloths on the metal and gently attempted to bend it...yep, it's fragile because the bent area is basically gone.

-vs-

I checked the rest of the housing and it doesn't appear to have any flaws, so I guess that metal is as thin as they say and damages very easily. Now I see how people can bend it by tightening it too much with a clamp.
So, UPS is suppose to be here this morning, what's the general consensus here? Should I still return it and wait possibly over a month or slap that bad boy on and get it tuned?
