****UPDATE****
If you receive a turbo with something as simple as a bent housing such as I have it RETURN it to FP. I lightly bent it back which was very easy to do and installed it. As we were tuning it, the power wasn't producing what it should (446whp 2.3L @30psi) and decided to check the turbo out. I took off the intake pipe and spun the wheel which stopped spinning within 3-4 seconds, almost like a journal bearing turbo. With the intake off, I started the car, revved it real quick, shut it off, and by time I got out, walked to the engine bay, the turbo wheel stopped. After talking to FP, it's possible that the little bend possibly messed with the ball bearings. I sent it out today and should be there by Tuesday morning, will update this when I get more info.

Wow, just goes to show you how precise turbos are. The hit that bent the inlet most likely shifted something internally. I don't doubt it got dropped hard, that sucks.

Holy **** it isn't supposed to do that. Don't run it anymore, remove it and send it back.

**UPDATE**-again. Spoke with FP and the ball bearing was fine. Apparently this video posted was the fp black sent to owens development and it spins freely however the FP Black DBB produced by them does *NOT* have that much free spin. They are putting it back together, replacing the anti surge cover and sending it back Monday. Again, the one posted in not produced by FP.

I would have thought they'd send it in a padded box and not just in a padded post pak

Yes due to shipping but the housing is unbelievably fragile. Suppose to be back here tuesday since I'm paying overnight air to get it. Hope to be tuning it once again and will try to post comparison between the black and my bbk full.

Both are crap in my book A trans I purchased last year and shipped via the wonderful UPS:

Anyway, I opted for 2 day air since it's was much more than I thought to pay for it. Time to slap this bad boy back on tomorrow.

You need to be more careful after opening the box. It appears to me that you dropped it. BTW I'm just kidding but you can see how that could be what happened. Sorry to hear about the problem.
