Subtle low pitch whine/roar
Subtle low pitch whine/roar
Hello everyone,
This past weekend I finished up replacing/rebuilding my Exedy Twin HD. I started the job 2 weekends ago and since I was working on the car in my free time the trans and transferase were both out of the car for 2 weeks. Along with rebuilding the clutch, I replaced my front subframe(bent, caster was off) and installed a whiteline front sway bar. I filled all fluids correctly with the proper OEM fluids. After driving the car around the block I brought it back in and double checked all my hardware and fluid levels, which were all good. After putting 200 miles or so on everything I noticed a roaring noise from the rear area under decel, very noticeable in neutral. I was thinking it was tires since I rotated the cupped ones to the rear during the clutch job. So I threw the car on the lift and ran it up to about 40mph. You could still hear a roaring type noise all the way down to about 5mph. Funny thing is the noise gets quieter as everything warms up. Is it possible that it's just the new T-case fluid being thick? Ive listened to a few "death whine" videos on YouTube and it isn't that high of a pitch, and not load dependent. Hopefully I'm just paranoid. I'm going to try and swap my other set of wheels onto the car this weekend to rule out tires. Any other suggestions of what to check while I have it on the lift this afternoon when I change the rear diff fluid?
Side note...what is the proper break in for the twin HD? 500miles of light driving?
Thanks for your time, this was posted with my phone, so sorry for any bad grammar lol,
CB
