Stock 9 turbo SD intake

Buying an intake for my SD setup on my 9 turbo. Should I just get the 3 inch intake and get the 3-2.5 reducer or would a 4 inch intake net any better gains at all?

having a larger intake pipe isn't gonna hender performance for certain. a 4 inch is about the same as having nothing at all but filtered. but 3'' hardpipe will be more then enough for a stock setup.

There will be a difference in Torque, the 3" would be a better choice.

I also have been looking for a quality SD intake recently. The STM is a nice set-up, but I prefer to use a dry filter, and don't like the polished look.

So I ordered a 45 degree 2.5" to 4.0" silicone coupler, and a 3" long 4" ID aluminum tube with knurled ends. They cost me $24 & $13 shipped on eBay. When I get them I will make some measurements to see what size filter will fit.

is he kidding me? how is a semi restrictive pipe going to create any gains over a pipe that is almost free breathing? with a 4'' intake the turbo is basically open.

Validate!

Surface area of filter element has got to be in play too. Does a 4" filter share the same element as a 3" with a different boot?

OP, what did you end up doing? Couldn't I just plug my Injen intake where the recirculating air goes. When I bought it from a member on here, it came with a plug in it. It seemed like it would work.

Got the STM 3 inch SD intake. You could do that, I just wanted a cleaner look.
