The Big Bang????
Mitsu suggest 60,000 mile replacement. Only way I would change it sooner is if you run big cams or have raised your rpm limit above stock. Both of which will put more stress on the timing belt.

Mate, with any modified engine with a belt, you need to check the belt regularly. I would say check the thing at EVERY service interval (around 5000 miles) that way if there is any signs of premature wear, you can hopefully get it resolved before the BIG BANG!

There are two timing belts that you have to replace. The balance shaft belt and the regular timing belt. Then you also have to replace all the pullies and the hydraulic tensioner. Do all of that, and get the tension right (not hard, but you have to know what you are doing), and everything will be fine.
