Unhappy Gas Gauge accuaracy?

Ok so when i turn on my car, i notice my gas gauge is not always accurate FOR A FEW MINUTES. when i let it sit and warm up for a bout 5 minutes, it goes up. I know this does not sound big but when i have about a quarter tank, it first shows low fuel with the light on. After a little while it goes all the way up to the quater line. I know this might have something to do with my fuel system because ALSO my car sometimes does not start on the first try. After the second try it starts up perfect???? Can this be because I need a new fuel pump??? ANy suggestions please

There's a float in your gas tank that tells what level your tank is at.

Cycle your key to the ONII position. You should hear the fuel pump priming. (pressurizing the fuel lines for a quick start up) It makes a humming sort of noise. Do this test a few times. To make sure it primes.

Having any gas gauge in an automobile do anything other than read near empty when the tank is near empty is about all you can expect. That plus the Evo tank is really two tanks with two pumps (one, a jet pump) with the driveshaft in the middle. There is a float on each side so the levels are not always the same. I don't know how the electronics handle two signals for one readout but maybe it gives some slightly screwy readings sometimes.

yeah it might be normal but i highly doubt it because the accuracy is way off and especially when it is cold. Also it does not start up perfect.

i know this has to be correlated to the accuracy of the gas gauge
