HTA86 or 6466 on a built 2.3?

I am looking to upgrade from stock frame.. which route would you go? I am only looking for about another 100hp.. keep it mind motor is MAP 2.3 but drivetrain is stock aside from a 5 speed swap out of an RS and ACT HDG6.

MAP is currently building me a 6466 v-band turbo kit. My car is also a MAP 2.3 using the Manley billet crank. I just finished my 1K mile break-in, but ran into clutch issues. Hopefully, I'll have it ready to tune by May.

You should go with the HTA86, it would be the next step up from a stock frame black and give you the extra power your looking for w/o crazy lag. If your looking for only a 100h increase it would make no sense to go to a laggier 900hp turbo..........

Bumping this is a little funny, but, I think he was talked out of messing with his setup anymore for atleast until after Proving Grounds on the local boards.

For an extra 100 more you can go with smaller turbos 6266/HTA86 is a good catch all.

Yup! I'm going to be running an old school gt3582r on my 2.3. I've heard it's the perfect match for a 2.3.

I wouldn't put a 6466 on anything I plan on making under 800awhp with.

If the 86 is on back order then get an 82, there are plenty of these things for sale around the board.

Id agree with whoever said 6266, or even just a 6262. Thatd be a solid bump up from your stock frame, while still providing relatively awesome spool for a T3 turbo and still operating in its efficiency range nicely.

Id say a 3586 over the 6466 if you had to pick between both, but the 6466 really doesnt seem like a slow spooler by any means, especially on a 2.3L. The 6466 will really shine when pushed tho in comparison to a pushed 3586.

We'll see if after riding in my car if he ends up with a 6466. I was originally going with a HTA86, but, they were backordered so I picked a 6466 instead.

I wonder which turbo is more reliable? Hmm

Also out of every turbo mentioned the HTA86 is the fasting spooling 7**hp turbo out there, just sucks about the b/o.... I have one with less than 100 miles on it in a tial .82 v-band housing I might think about selling. Not sure tho, it's the one with the new bullet tipped compressor wheel.
