Turbo possibilities

I've doing quite a bit of research and I haven't really found a Turbo that fits what I'm looking for I don't know if its even possible at an affordable scale. I've been looking into a hx40 7 blade 60mm or a pte 6262. I'm shooting for a goal of 500-550 on 93 now for the tricky part I'm wanting quick spool time with very good reliability. Everything I've read so far is the hx40 is very sensesitive to oil pressures and can be common to fail where as the 6262 is reliable but doesn't spool as quickly as I like. I drive 60 miles a day to work and back I don't have to DD the car put I prefer to drive it as much as possible. So what I'm looking for is what I've read true?, is there another Turbo out there I'm looking over? Can I make theses numbers with full boost below 5000? Thanks for all help

Current setup is
Evo 8
2.0l
AMS race head
hks 272 cams
Pte 800cc inj
Eagle h beams
8.5:1 compression pistons
Speed Density
Stock Turbo on 20 lbs
stock intake/ exhaust manifolds
Tuned by ams on AEM EMS
made 350awhp at AMS

If you are looking at a turbo with equal length manifold, there are a lot of good turbos out there to meet your horsepower goals. While I agree the 6262 won't have the best spool up characteristics, it will most definitely be able to meet your horsepower goals. You may also want to look into Garrett GTX turbos as well.

Maybe 6262 in a twin scroll. Or another 62mm variant in a twin scroll. but you have low compression and 272 cams going against your early spool goals.

Could be possible, but the 6262 will definitely cover your goal, or if you say BB red then also the HTA 86 would be super.

My 6262 had full boost at 5500 rpm. Stock head/intake with kelford 272.
It's not as bad as ppl think. That was 30psi. Made 560/427 awhp. Pump 93.
I do not think a red will hit 500 on pump. And if it did, or any other stock frame turbo, it dies hard over 7000. Imho stock frame turbos are for stealth or visual inspections.
I prefer lag on the street, as im not beating the car all the time.
I'd hover over the dyno thread section bro

I have had great luck with Turbonetics billet 6162 turbos on smaller displacement engines making over 550+whp with Honda 1.6 SOHC, I can only imagine how much quicker they would spool on Evo 2.0's!

i would do the hx40 it cheap and for the oiling issue use a restrictor .75-.85 and you shouldnt have an issue. you can use a BEP housing in T3 .70AR or get the Mitsu housing in .55AR i think they run like 2 bills give or take. cheap and affordable and the DSM guys are having a blast with them.... thats my next build. they are running 9's with them already.
