HKS GTII 7460 - What to do?

following up on this thread - HKS 7460 failures

tightening the WGA after every successive track day brought back some response but it's still laggy and not hitting target boost which leads me to believe it might have a warped wastegate flapper as seen in the above video. i've since gotten new LICP/UICP/intake/BOV, there are no leaks and the compression is perfect across the board. the turbo has the same amount of shaft play as when i got it and it doesn't smoke.

i got the OG non-kai 7460 used with 200 miles (currently has less than 10k miles) from an EvoM member and a DBB Red is going in place of it in a few days.

can i send it back to HKS Japan? or have a shop machine a MHI hotside for it? what are my options as far as getting it fixed and what are the costs associated?

any input is appreciated

machining mitsu hotside would improve turbo. the HKS is like 9cm very restrictive.
you can also fix the HKS by installing new flapper valve . can be made to seal flat again with new angle the warped arm created.

i guess installing a new flapper valve would be the most economical option. do you have any idea where i can buy one?

thanks for your input

Good find... hopefully I won't need this anytime soon for my HKS, but good to know where to find one.

So is the original HKS 7640R flapper valve a 34mm diameter face? I guess so, huh?

one could also weld it shut and go with an external wastegate.... cheaper than a turbo, but more expensive than the flapper.

BB FP Red's make a pretty stout car as well.

I understand some people had a problem with the turbine housing moving on the center cartridge and loosing preload because of it. There is no locating pin on these turbos like on the stock units.

Wierd, huh? It sure is a funky actuator rod configuration. I did not know about the center housing clocking though. That would just further complicate things. The actuator rod is not a single piece. The metals stretch. Now, the center housing clocks. Funky!
