While I do agree that with upgraded valve train and bigger cams you'll tend to experience more head noise, that sounds a little too loud for my tastes. I listened to it on my phone so it's a little hard to distinguish the actual source of the sounds. But what rpm is your idle at?

sounds about right...seems that these motors are notorious for it. I'm sure with an aftermarket valvetrain it'll be louder/more constant

I experience it also at random occasions on stock valvetrain, just kinda comes and goes whenever it wants.

I was told that amsoil motor oils reduced it considerably..

your other options, and more invasive ones would be to adjust the valve lash, or getting new lifters

I know this is directed towards the op but for comparison sake, my car idles at 1100 rpm and i hear the lifter tick while the car warms up and injectors almost all the time, running hks 272s

this was going to be my next point. Above 1000rpm my engine idles at a comparable volume, even with stock valve train. Below 950 it tends to quiet down a lot though

Have you taken her for a good rip? Works wonders on BMW lifter tick. A good hard 10 min drive always works wonder If not I would consider the GSC zero tick lifters if its that annoying
