You can quote it all you want, but they only deal with the 5 speed gear boxes. Go ahead and call them.

I would definitely get it rebuilt by one of the reputable transmission shops; Jackstransmissions, Shepard trans, Buschar or TRE.. And be careful about taking your tranny to the average joes tranny shop. Evo trannys are expensive and sensitive, it would be wise to pay the price and get it done right the first time.

As for the problem you are experiencing while making a "u-turn" (i.e. pressure relief/pop) I feel the culprit would be the front differential, possible cracked or broken spider gears. Again, its hard to diagnose a problem through such a broad description of the problem.
if the transmission is rebuildable im definitely going that route. i want to build a 6speed since every one does 5 speeds. just looking to try something different. i wasnt planning on going to an average joe to get it rebuilt either. ive heard of shep and jackson trans and was going to start looking into them when time for the rebuild came around. looking at the Buschur Bushwacker upgrade, looks like that is only for 5speed.
back on the transmission problem.. the noises made came from the transmission. none from the t-case. my TOB was already going out, that was the majority of the noises. prior to the incident, 3-4 gear felt really sticky(as if a sticky goo was restraining from engagement). that went on for about a week. the difficulty of engagement lightened drastically the next week then a week after that it blew(pressure reilef noise occured during u-tun). tried engaging gears and the shifter would only move side to side in nuetral but would not go into 1-6 gear at all, not even reverse: when the car was on/off with/without clutch engaged the transmission still wouldnt budge. i took it to the shop to have it diagnosed. the day i took my evo there the owner hops in for a drive to diagnose and it drove like nothing was wrong. they put it on the rack to drain the oil and none came out. so they just immediately called and said it was blown. so i bought a new 6 speed and have a busted one laying around.

I might sell the six speed or do this build on it, Will make a stock Evo go close or more 200mph at 8,000rpm
a built 6 speed will make an evo do 200mph? or the shep 5speed?

There are a few companies that do 6sp rebuilds. Shep and TRE are the bigger names. Ivey did my 6sp rebuild.

Depending on what is blown inside will dictate your price. I have done a ton of research before I had mine rebuilt.

Instead of having the place crack it open pick who you want to rebuild it and send it out.

Just my 2cents..

Might want to put your flame suit on. LOL. I think Shep gets more press cause they do more trans than most... I would not say they have bad rep.. They are one of the top if not the top trans rebuild shops. I went with Ivey cause he was closer to me and I could drop off. I don't know anything about Jackson but I will say this not many shops touch the 6speed... Its a tricky trans to rebuild from what I understand. I would do some research. I would have no issue sending my 6speed trans to shep... I would also go back to Ivey in a heartbeat..

Theres no voodoo that goes into rebuilding a trans back to factory spec. Many places can do it. But no one reinforces the 6spd like the do the 5spd, other than shep and to some extent TRE. TRE does his oil passage and magnet tricks on it but that doesn't mean its bulletproof, just more likely to live. razorlab blew a TRE 6spd in addition to his stock 6spd. Shep offers reinforced gears but they are on very short supply with long backorders.

Doesn't shep have anything listed on his site about rebuilding 6 speed trannys? I don't see anything about it on his site
