Question Exedy Twin upgrade to Triple?

Not sure if I should upgrade to a triple since the twin is out. I know the twin is rated at 535 flywheel, but I don't want to backtrack if the clutch does need to be upgraded. Car is a fully built 2.3 and will be running a fp red on e85 (over 30psi). Car will be tracked and daily driven (3-4 times a wk).

l've been told by AMS and other reputable EVO performance shops its a good idea, easy and affordable to upgrade to a triple you just need the 3 new cerametallic discs and plates. You can ask AMS they'll tell you what you need and see if THMotorsports can beat their prices which lm sure they should if they have the parts in stock

that's pretty weak... call AMS for advice, then go to another company to undercut them. Unless i mis-read that

I would call up whoever you're buying the triple plate kit from and buy from them directly instead of wasting time calling one company and ordering from another. Plus, AMS won't really help you if you're not planning on buying from them.

You can call up MAP and see if it's right for you. Then order from them directly. Very friendly guys and ship very fast.

If the price difference is nominal between the twin and triple, I would go with the triple. Might as well go triple and have the peace of mind as well.

Just a quick note. I sold my twin and bought a triple, and I love the triple soo much more haha. Its much more streetable than the twin, which was surprising to me.

I've also been told by my local shop to just upgrade to the triple. seems like a good deal for the money and I've also heard that its much more streetable option than the twin.

People sometimes see issues upgrading the twin to a triple, mostly due to warped pressure plate and dirty components. I highly doubt a twin will hold a red at 30lbs. General rule of thumb is if you want to go over 130mph in the 1/4, go triple.

Twin will easily hold a red at 30psi, unless you can't drive.

Take into consideration that a triple will be more expensive to refresh as well the next time around - and these clutches need relatively frequent rebuilds.....

Thats prolly it. But yea, I think the triple is much more streetable than my twin was. The triple is louder, but you get used to that real quick.

One question I've wondered since I got my Exedy twin... when they say it is good for 500tq, what does that roughly equate to WHEEL TQ numbers on a Mustang Dyno? Or does Exedy imply that the twin is good for 500TQ at the wheels?

Also, what is involved with rebuilding an Exedy Twin into a Triple? How much are the Triple Rebuild kits?
