Evo 5 Crank Angle Sensor

Was wondering if you could help. I have a Mitsi Evo 5 which needs a new crank shaft sensor. The problem is finding the correct part for the correct car. Will a crank shaft sensor for an Evo 6 be the same on an Evo 5. Also, during replacement, does the cam belt have to be removed/replaced in order to replace the sensor? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. And does anyone know of a part number for the sensor?

You are an absolute star!.... Thanks ever so much for this... I was beginning to think I would never get my car going again for ages!... Really missing it!.... Brilliant ... thank you, thank you!.

Do you know if the cam belt has to be removed for the sensor to be replaced?

Thanks in advance.

It's the same sensor now from the IV to IX as already stated, the original part was superseded from the early VII as it has a slightly longer cable.
It can be done leaving the belt in place, but tbh it's better to change it whilst there as you are 95% done anyway. You also need to unbolt the PAS pump to be able to get the connector passed behind it which is more of a pain.

I have an evo 5 motor in my evo 8 chassis. I replaced with an oem evo 8 crank sensor and it worked beautifully.
