I feel your pain. This happened to me 2 weeks ago. 2nd time I had a clutch fork stop also but it was not adjusted correctly and I found out the hard way. Make sure it's very close to the fork, just keep checking it because the clutch will wear etc. I have mine like a credit card gap away from the fork, maybe even closer.

Trans is ready to come out but I have my slide hammer at work so Ill have it out tomorrow. I took a picture of the inspection hole and it definitely doesn't look right in there.

Sucks that you have to pull the trans to fix this. I am curious if this only occurs with the exedy twin disk or has anyone had this happen to them with the factory clutch.

could u take a pic of how far your clutch for stopper was adjusted and of the fork against it just so we can see how far the fork has to travel before the TOB pops off?

Credit card gap is the usual go to, and seems to work for most.

This problem is not separated to just the twin's, has happened on all style's of clutch. It's a *****....but hey that's how these cars are sometimes lol

Bummer buddy!

Looks like I'll be checking my clutch fork stopper tomorrow as well.

If it makes you feel any better, I just had to drop some coin on new brakes for the Evo. With the brakes applied at highway speeds, the steering wheel would shake like crazy.

Keep us updated. Have fun dropping the trans

Thanks. Yea I was testing out nlts and made some fast shifts and bam pedal went to the floor. I'm just happy I was only 2 miles away from home. If all goes as planned I'm hoping to hit the track this weekend and finally get my 10sec pass.

Too late now. The trans is just about out now. But credit card thickness is ideal. Mine wasn't that close.

This has me quite paranoid. I was considering buying the STM clutch fork stop but was told not to worry about it since I still have the factory clutch. I'm thinking otherwise now...

Its not a problem if you shift normal. If you shift very fast then it can happen. Fork stopper is cheap insurance. I would get one for any pull type clutch. Just be sure its adjusted properly. Not close enough and its not effective. Too close and the clutch wont fully engage causing clutch to slip.

Ok I got the trans out and found the retaining ring all bent out of shape. This answers my original question as to why the tob wont go back on after it pops off.

Luckily I have an extra ring laying around so the trans will go back in tomorrow night. Hopefully Ill finish it up Wed night and be back on the road Thursday.

so if your clutch fork stopper was installed in which it was right up against the fork would this have been able to happen? i guess i dont really understant what the fork stopper is supposed to do? cause if the tob gets messed up how will the stopper do anything when the tranny has to be pulled anyways to fix it?
