Angry TOB popped off on me today

So as the title says my tob popped off. From what I have read I will have to remove the trans to fix it. My question is why? When you install the trans the tob is off and all you have to do is push the clutch fork to pop it onto the clutch. I tried doing this but its not popping back on. Does the tob get damaged when it gets popped off?

The tob could be damaged or the round clip that actually holds it to the pressure plate could have broken allowing it to come off the pressure plate.

I'm going to pull the trans tomorrow. Anyone know if I can get away with just pulling the trans away and not have to actually take it out of the car?

I don't think you can make the needed spacing to get your hand in there to replace anything,if the tob broke you'll have to get the fork shaft out which can't be done in the car.

I am pretty sure when it pops off, the little ring and springs fall out. I have put those parts back onto the pressure plate with the trans pulled away and still in the engine bay. Not the funnest thing to do as there is little room. Good luck man.

Wizzo....i just finished putting a buddies trans back for this same reason. He launched the car hard slammed second and boom no more clutch....pulled inspection rubber and seen the tob in a few pieces. Had to take trans all thr way off...cleaned everything looked for damage on pressure plate and then ok'ed it. Installed new tob/retainer ring along with new wave springs. We also went an extra step for prevention and got the STM clutch fork stop. Its a PITA just for a little damn clip so i would recommend the fork stop. GL man!

Tripple wave ring it, I hear that is the hot ticket. I put 3 wave rings in my Exedy Tripple, it runs and drives but is not tuned to beat on it. I have talked with a couple high HP guys and they say they never had a problem again. I also put the STM clutch fork stop on.

The wave ring is actually two stuck together with oil....so it looks like one until you fiddle with them....yes clutch fork stop ftw.

I forgot to mention that I do have 3 wave springs already and a clutch fork stopper. I haven't checked the adjustment of the stopper in a while so maybe it wasn't adjusted properly. I know as the clutch wears it has to be adjusted.

I wont be able to start on it till this afternoon but I should have it out by tomorrow night after work. Btw I have an exedy twin that is only about 6 months old with no launches on it. If this happens to me again I'm going to a push type setup.
