boost leak test FP Black w/84mm housing

so I've been doing boost leak tests with my air compressor reading and yesterday noticed the 25psi that I was doing was actually more like 8 psi. So I use my AEM digital boost gauge to set things up, hook it up and the tester blows off the turbo. I've tried the hairspray, t-bolt, 2 worm clamp methods and even let hairspray sit overnight to make sure it secures to no avail. Has anyone been able to do a test with the compressor cover? It has no lip whatsoever so easily pops off everytime. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

I've ran into a similar issue. What I've done is take the lower intercooler pipe off the turbo, clamp the boost leak tester onto the lower intercooler pipe and test it from there.

I used a piece of rope to hold the coupler to the turbo

What is your tester made of? Never had one pop off when attached to the turbo.

so how does the boost leak test work? Just use some kind of attachment on the turbo inlet and pressurize the inlet tubes?

yes if there is any leaks in the system, the pressure up to 30 lbs would find it. This is why you use smoke and or soapy water to spray down all the areas that would leak.

Thanks, that did the job!!! Pressurized it to 33 psi and let it sit for 10 minutes, no leaks. My tester was made from ETS silicone reducer, want to say it was this one:

Basically took my old MachV tester and used it for this.
