Exhaust leak from dump side of muse external dump

I posted about this before. Basically I have exhaust leaking from the dump tube side of my muse external dump at idle. Its almost like the wastegate isn't closing but it builds boost just fine. I have taken this on and off 3 times, replacing the divided gasket, running no gasket, then using only copper rtv and it is still leaking!

I need to know if anyone else has had this problem asap. I have heard of someone having to adjust the wastegate actuator but no one has confirmed this or how to do it. I mainly need to know which way to turn the nuts to adjust it.

Im actually considering throwing this muse **** away and going internal again!

Don't toss the Muse in the trash so hastily. I am not an expert but I would say that copper RTV sealant is not going to hold up to the heat emanating from a turbine housing. No, no, no! So, it is bound to leak exhaust.

You tried increasing WG preload and this didn't help the issue?

what kind of gasket are you using? if you are using oem then that's your problem, you'll need the divorced one and map sells it.(or atleast that's where i got mine)

if that's not it then it's your preload. i had to take the nut off and cut 2 threads off to get it to close fully.

the original post says divided gasket. I have replaced it 2 times then tried without a gasket then just rtv. I took it off since I posted this again and put a new copper gasket on it with thin layer of copper rtv on each side.
Thing isn't going to get any better of a seal.

How do you adjust the preload? Just turn the nut on the actuator arm? In which direction to close it? My wastegate is just the stock one I believe.

im going to take it back off again and make sure nothing in damaged with the wastegate. Only other thing it could be is the muse housing flange is so badly out of shape it just leaks.

A couple of guys have already advised you as to what is most likely causing the problem. You are going to have to try increasing the tension on the WGA spring.

I have never personally run a dump housing on my Evo. But, I recall a couple of horror stories about the flapper valve hanging up internally on the tubing walls on some of these things.

But, I don't remember what specific brands experienced this problem. This was way back in the early days of developing these things and I am sure that those types of problems have been solved.

Hmmm? Didn't your fingers get kinda hot down there? Don't use your hand. Try some bailing wire instead. Or a small chain with a hook on each end and a turnbuckle to take up the slack

I did increase the tension... No my car was completely cold and only started it for 10 sec or so.

Can someone get me a link of where I can buy one of the divorced gaskets? Im going to try this one more time. spool times is still at full spool before 4k rmp. having a hard time believing its the flapper not sealing.
