So, I have always run the factory recommended Mobil 1 10w-30 and changed it every 3,000 miles. I've modified the car to just about where I want it and the result is 400+whp, which translates into about 200 HP over stock. I've done a little reading on different oils and it seems like Mobil 1 is a better choice for stock evo's that aren't pushed to the limit on a regular basis. I enjoy track days and usually do some "spirited" driving on my own time.
But anyway, I'd like to know what oils you guys like to use in your modified to highly modified evo's(built motor, big turbo) because I'll eventually be going that route. The are three oils I've considered: Royal Purple, Brad Penn, and Amsoil.
Let me know what yall think!

*Warning*

New "which oil?" threads will repeat every 3 months or every 3,000 posts. Whichever comes first.......

lol, seriously though the which oil debates probably rank up there with politics and religion. You might want to pull out now while there's still time!

Zrod 10w30 has all the ingredients necessary to keep a motor in healthy condition. Specially for modified cars.

^ If you change oils, your 3 choices should be Amsoil Z-Rod 10-30, Valvoline 10-30 synthetic VR-1 (P/N 679083.0), or Brad Penn 10-30

Thanks for the input and sarcasm. I know there are threads on this but no need to post if you don't want to.
Thank you spec ops and Apagan for actually answering my question.

The issue is there are hundreds of threads but most of them don't help much. I may take the time to build a thread that show comparisons.

I have a sticky up top..... https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...g-testing.html

Has lots of info from guys on here that have sent me there UOAs. All types of driving styles, from dd to track time on the oil. There is some samples with E85 and some with pump. There are samples up there done on stock and some on modded motors. Its still a work in progress. I plan to organize it and make it easier to read through, but point is the info is up there. If you scan through the first page you will get an idea for what the oils are doing, what oils guys are using with similar setups and styles of driving as you, and then you can make your decision on what oil you would like to use.

Got anything besides ignorance as a reason behind that?

I'm with n2ioroc, I run M1 10-40 as well but use the high mileage. Works great for me. Car is used mainly for autox and track days with some street driving in between.

I used Mobil1 0W-40 in my stock motor for many thousands of miles. No complaints. It has really good cold start characteristics.

Now I run Motul XCESS 5W-40 because I can get it cheaper than Mobil1. It is the highest rated off the shelf, commercial stuff by "The Oil Guy", the oil guru, over on the British Lancerregister forums.

If I lived in the states I would run Shell Rotella T6 a 5W-40 formulated for turbodiesel engines. In the states it is cheaper than my Motul and available in gallon jugs cheap at Walmart. The T6 outperforms Amsoil on blackstone analysis through the same motor.

I just think that you shouldn't go toss your money away buying boutique motor oil for your stock turbo, stock mill, when there exist quality options such as Shell T6 available at significantly lower prices.
