A little confused and could use a slight bit more info
Hey guys, I know a lot of people say not to do this, but I would like good cold facts of why it shouldn't be done. I'm looking to switch my car to a VTA BOV, but I don't have SD. Besides running rich in between shifts and possibly backfiring, what other ill effects are done to the car? I'm not able to think of anything else so I'd like your input. Let me know. Thanks guys.

I love the BOV I have for it. And it sounds WAY better VTA than recirc'd. I've tested before on my DSM's. The only other problem I've read is possible compressor surge (which I know is very bad), but my BOV is adjustable and I can adjust that out. And honestly, I don't think that running rich between shifts is that bad, my car does that now with the stock DV on it, and it doesn't backfire on me now, so I'm just trying to find the difference. I know I will be running even more rich between my shifts on VTA, but I'm wondering what all the ill effects would be. Haven't done it yet, just weighing the options right now, and with my current mods on the car, it's pointless to go SD just for the BOV sound lol.
I vote:
Buy a damn Omni 4 Bar and get a tune. Problem solved, and you won't have any of the terrible side effects you're describing
.
Oh, and your car will run a ton better.

I am using it lol. the reason I'm not SD already is because I don't have an IAT sensor and I can't find how to tune my car using the fuel temp. Those are the only 2 ways I know to tune for SD. Other than that, there is no reason why I shouldn't be SD.

Ah, makes sense! I'm sure there's a thread on it somewhere.

By all means if you have a 3 bar then use it, mang. Why aren't you SD already if it's that easy for you??!!
