Who's running stock exhaust?!

I'm trying to see who out there runs a stock catback. I'm thinking of doing a 3inch downpipe and 3 inch test pipe to a stock catback, will i run into any problems? any leaks? I have a full three inch exhaust on the car but its really starting to get to me. Its way to loud for my liking. I had a sudden change of heart and i realized i kinda like how the stock exhaust looks and sounds more then any system out there. Any one that has done this please help me out.

Its quite restrictive as you know. You will probably drop some boost and loose responsiveness doing so. It shouldn't leak, but it will develop more backpressure so any joins should be with good gaskets etc. Hope you dont run a larger turbo, would kinda be a waste to choke it so severely.

Are there no other systems, even 2.5" systems you could use? I run the ralliart titanium 2.5" catback and its pretty quiet on cruise, with a nice note on throttle. Make ~405HP (DJ) no problems.

I seen Reese's RS had the stock exhaust with a cutout and that's what gave me the idea. Its restrictive due to the piping? or the muffler itself? I got a muse 3" catback, to be honest, i really didn't feel any difference between the two. The car is just extremely loud now and drones like crazy. The car is bone stock and my daily driver, the loud exhaust is ridiculous.

Yeah piping is small and muffler is baffled not straight through. I hate droney exhausts, the ralliart is brilliant, you could hold whispered conversation at cruise, but has a nice sporty note to it when you want, theyre straight through but well muffled with a proper oval muffler at the end. Something like a Tanabe medalion (sp?) are known to be quiet but still flow better than stock. Maybe try something along those lines before resorting back to stock? 2.5 - 2.75" piping - long resonator underneath, oval shaped muffler at the rear.

I too like the look of stock exhaust OP, im running a 3" DP and Separate TP and have 0 leak issues. just get a good sized gasket and align it right the first time. i gutted out my muffler so less restrictive and kept the two resonators and i must say i couldnt be happier with it. not too loud not too quiet and gives the power you need for any tune. I always get asked if the exhaust is stock i just say yupp lol

Get RRE build a muffler or let Works ($200) gut the muffler for you.

If anyone is looking for a stock exhaust to tinker with and gut the muffler + cat, I have a complete stock exhaust for sale:

I run a down pipe, test pipe with a sound performance boost actuated cutout, and then a stock catback. The boost actuated cutout opens around 11 psi so there is minimal restriction when you need to make the most power. This setup is very quiet while cruising. Its one of the best mods I've done to the car.
