Best Turbo for 2.3L?

Hey Guys,

Im new to the evo community, and im looking for the best overall setup for a 2.3L stoker. I know this subject has been beaten to death, and im sorry if you guys have answered these questions a million times.

I am looking at going with a JAM 2.3L and a forward facing turbo manifold, looking for killer street setup. goals of 700whp and 500lbs of torque, is there specific turbo you guys suggest? I come from the honda world where we can make great numbers with less boost, but we make no where near the same torque or have the same powerband lol. I really like the GTX series stuff, i have used them in the past with great results, but not quite sure how they re-act on the 4G63 platform. For the numbers i want i was looking at the GTX3582R http://cheapturbo.com/store/index.ph...product_id=127 I would like to use the vband inlet to make install and service easier.

My second choice would be a borg warner S300SX FMW http://www.full-race.com/store/turbo...fmw-turbo.html, I really like what ive seen out of the BW lineup and the fact that they are journal bearing would make for less hoses and clutter.

What cams would you guys suggest for a setup like this? Kelford?

Thanks guys so much!

How much power are you looking to make? What type of fuel? GTX3582 is a 725-750whp race gas turbo.

This.

Oh, and OP, a GSC S3 will suit your combo pretty well, along with a Magnus .

The GTX is a great unit for sure, They perform amazingly compared to the old GT series, I think thats a good choice, however the FP HTA3586R is down right a machine

i agree; the hta3586 is a GREAT turbo. i wouldn't rule out precision turbo's, however. the ceramic ball bearing CHRA turbo's are awesome. i don't see them being used that much on this platform, but they're terrific.

6766. HTA86 is great, but his numbers would be easier to obtain with a 6765, 6766, or 3794

All of the turbos you listed would be an overkill for his goals and would have a ton of extra lag that you don't need.
