Best Turbo for 2.3L?
I think all of the turbos are pretty well covered, but I have always imagined it must be extremely fun to run a BBK Full turbo with a 2.3 l. The torque, I'd imagine, must be incredible, no lag, I'd think it would be a beast on the street.
I am not saying you would ever need to replace it, but if you needed to have some center section work, Forced Performance does some amazing work with the Garrett Turbos. Especially the HTA 86. So it is not necessary to say that Precision is the only turbo to be rebuildable, (maybe less bearing life with the ceramic) but not necessarily the only rebuildable turbo. A lot of personal preference in this thread.
Which Springfield are you from? I've got a BW S300 FMW waiting to go on the car now.
I was talked out of the PTE's due to reliability reasons. Have plenty of friends rocking BW's and have never had an issue.

I run a FP Black on my 2.3 and make just shy of 640whp/565wtq at only 29psi. 500wtq is hit at 4250rpm on this setup. The Black, hta82, and HTA86 will ALL make the power you want, as will the 6262, 6266, and 6466 if you prefer Precision's offerings. If you want to stay with a purely Garrett turbo, the GTX-35r is going to be your weapon of choice.

T4 TS 6265 1.00.......777/577 on E85 @ 33PSI (Dyno Jet). 6466 Seems to spool the same as the this turbo which hopefully means the 6266 or 6262 CEA will spool even faster (and according to Precision achieve the same power with less boost/more power at the same boost).

I run a hta86 on my 2.3. I have the .63 housing on it as well. At first I thought, this might be pointless, but after I have driven the car, I F****** love it!! Yea sure, I wont make as much power up top as the next guy with a .82 housing hta86, but I am running a 2.3(cant rev high anyways), plus its a street car. In reality, my 500+hp I have now is MORE than enough than I need for the street. More power is always fun of course though. Im getting full boost(30psi) at about 4500-4600 rpms. Letting it pull to 7500 right now. Turbo pulls so hard all the way to 7500rpms.
For a drag only car, would I recommend this setup? No. For a killer street car that can be a best of both worlds kinda deal, I def recommend it!

I would suggest you to get a corvette or R35. Those cars can be driven comfortably in a city with that kind of power. If you want a 700whp evo you will have to fit big turbo something like GTX 35 or bigger. And after you wasted huge amount of money, you will realise that starting from a traffic light without launch control you will hit reasonable boost only by 5000 rpm and by the time you get to 5000 rpm those 2 cars I mentioned above will be in another part of the city. If you start roll on racing without boost braking you would loose to those cars as well, just because big turbos take a while to go from negative boost into reasonable boost when you start making good power.
In my opinion 700 whp evo is good on a drag strip, but not in the city, especialy when the turbo spools and you have to brake already.

All valid points I would argue have already been posted. I do like the comment about getting a v8. After all, we evo people are playing catch up by bolting on turbos to compensate for signifanctly les displacemt. I hate to say it, but at the end of the day there really is no replacement for displacement. That said, I'm running a .82 FP HTA3586 on a 2.3 4g63 fully built, and love it. I just don't love it getting off th line. Past 5500rpm I have to slam gears every 1.5-2 seconds becaus it hits so fast and hard. All this on 93 oct. just to add my 2 cents, I've actually considered downgrading to some version of a 30r, a red, or AMS 850 just to make the drivesability more tame and hp/tq curve more flat and linear. I love the awesome power of the hta3586, but I'm terrified of a e85 or c/q16 tune because I can barely keep it in a straight line on pump.
If u want practical and drivable, while still fun, don't go for the 35r or precision 6xxx. It is almost too much. Personally I just can't go to a smaller turbo. It would feel like going from a super model to a hooker

Fortunately Garrett's turbos are actually reliable so it's not as much of a worry.
