Does the manifold really matter?

From all of experiences in the past on other platforms a $1000 manifold vs a $200 never seems to make any difference.

Does it matter much on a evo?

My stock one is just trashy and rusty looking so I was just looking for nicer looking one. I dont care about a performance upgrade I just want a nice stainless steal one since you can see it threw the hood vent.

Get an ETS or Toxifab stock replacement. Or an Ebay/Megan mani if you enjoy them cracking.

+1 its not always performance what your paying for sometimes quality and pride in there work and the longevity of the product is what you pay for i would agree with the guy above check out Map as well and a few others but if you want to run the risk im sure ebay has great deals good luck

Well its a $200 manifold. And if it does crack, you just need to head to a weld shop and have the crack repaired. Shouldnt be expensive. Its good for a little power too.

Have been running the SBR (Slow Boy Racing) for 4 years, in Arizona weather. Not a single crack.
If I happen to need a replacement, I will go with MAP's manifold.

Ah so the evo comuninity is just as conflicted as the dsm.

My question is to the guy using the megan one what kinda whp numbers are you putting down?

I really dont wanna spend $800 + for a manifold when mines perfectly fine just want a nicer looking one. My evo's fast enough for me.

I once said my Evo was fast enough for me... LOL. Yea OK, LOL

I will use the rusty, crappy lookin stocker until I upgrade the turbo.. a big honkin turbo and a pretty manifold will go on at the same time.

Save your money and probably some headaches when you break a couple studs and just get a polished heat shield.

Well then your the luckiest two guys in the world or neither of you drive much or hard. If you drive the car, it will break. If you searched for 2 minutes you'd find about 9,738,326,794 posts about Megan and ebay manifolds being garbage.

My Megan manifold is working fine over 4 years now. But my friend bought and installed it same day, his manifold cracked after 2k miles. Yes, I'm the one of luckiest one with it. lol

I've recently purchased a ToxicFab replacement and I must say it was worth it on build quality alone. I was given a Megan manifold with the car and never put it on because I heard about all the stories. I even tried to get rid of it for a bit and it seems as if you can't even give the things away. It will probably just end up being something cool for the garage. Like a base for a shelf or something. Either way it's your decision and if you do end up buying a Megan I wish you the best. You could always look for a used manifold, like an ETS, MAP, or CBRD.

Just go with a polished heat shield cover. Chances are that if your manifold is already rusted and trashy looking, then you studs from the head are rusted and will probably break off in your head also your nuts are probably rusted and round out really easy. To each there own though!!!

If you just wanna give me the megan one I'll test it. Worse thing that could happen is it totally ruins my car right? lol I mean i dont feel like im pushing a **** ton of power so i dont see why it wouldnt hold up. Then again I dont know how much whp i've got.

I bought the car used it has a full exhaust, some cams, a turbo timer, a electronic boost gauge which seems to be set at 22psi, a cone intake and thats all. So I dont know if im pushing any power at all but the thing pushes you back deep into your seat when the turbo finally spools.
