Those Megan manifolds are so cheap looking, they don't add power, and its typical that they crack.
You're right, more power = more heat. Which is irrelevant in this case, because they crack at any power level on EVOs. I've seen plenty, both here and in person. I understand you want bling, that ppl can see.
It's already an EVO. Imho, have the stocker coated.
P.S. those manifolds don't stay so pretty either...
Maybe you "lucky" Megan owners shoyld post pics

Stock ported manifold flows very nice. Full race slightly better. Go ported stock on any stock frame turbo.

In bold... SO true. Yes it may be a tube manifold, but wow do they get ugly over time..

This picture is like 8 months old but you get the point of the manifold looking awful after time.. (wow has my car changed so much since this)

for my money, the amount of spool and response lost by going to a tubular manifold is not worth the small gain that some people, (with just the right combo and some luck) see with them.. I mean if you're just doing it for looks ok fine but if you're really interested in a modification path, my car made 500 dynojet on a HTA Green with stock exhaust mani, and then 600 dynojet on the Black with the same stock (not even ported) manifold. I'm agreeing with the polished heat shield suggestion and call it a day you can make more power for the dollar elsewhere

EDIT: I'm not saying all of them totally kill spool, but look around for some dyno charts before buying something, there is a difference.

Pssst that's why I'm not buying a Toxifab until I know for sure my car won't see rain again. If only I could buy that damn hood vent cover...4 years of searching for one and not one has popped up for sale anywhere.

First off i would say ... function over form. the stock evo manifold doesnt look pretty but when ported (kurt brown) it is a well flowing manifold. if your worried about how it looks just get a different heat shield to put over it.
perfromance wise it depends on how much you want to spend. there are plenty of companies that make good quality manifolds (toxic,map,ams,jmf,shearer...etc)
on the budget side of the house the megan and the full-race replica rewelded and braced have been shown to hold up very well given their price

KEEP THE STOCK MANIFOLD, just get it ported. Buschur ran 9's on it. Any stock frame turbo will have less than 5whp and lag added. IF YOU MUST HAVE ONE get the Full race design, it works slightly better than OEM but adds lag.

ive had an ebay Mani on for awhile now and no cracks or problems with it and i have no hood vent so it get rained on even when driving. "wouldnt recommend it" but its held up perfect for me and no problems! but im going with more HP now and im sure it wont hold up so im porting my stock mani. Good Luck! i was tuned at 325 with this mani so i honestly think there not that bad

Do you have proof that it adds lag?

I know Full Race are trying to sell a product, but on their website, a Full Race manifold reaped significant gains all though the rev-range on a stock turbo. It had earlier spool, more mid-range and top end.

I am looking at my options at the moment and would like to hear some feedback.

You are adding long runners and increased area to fill, it certainly adds lag, almost all properly made tubular manifolds increase lag. They also don't hold heat like cast Iron which again hurts thermal dynamics. Iron also holds a turbo much better than the steel units which crack over time.

Stay ported stocker, it rules.
