Stg 3 clutch and boost spuddering
Stg 3 clutch and boost spuddering
Hey guys, if this is the wrong area, sorry, trying to get this up before i head to bed.
When i bought my EvoVIII, i was told it had recently (<6000 miles) gotten a new clutch/flywheel installed by Touge(?) factory. Ive never had anything other than a stock clutch on a manual, and this clutch seems to take at least 3000+RPM to not stutter violently on launches.
is this normal of a stage 3 clutch? it is a Exedy stage 3 clutch with a lightweight steel flywheel.
my second question, which is also im hoping, related to this section:
under high boost (18-20psi), i get lots of bogging like the fuel supply is being cut or im hitting rev limiter, but its only 4000-5500, not red line. There is a manual boost controller on the car, im not sure what the car was tuned for, either. Would it be a far off assumption that it was tuned for a lesser amount of boost and the previous owner cranked it up, causing a bog? Never dealt with a MBC, all my boosted cars have been tuned with stock components.
thanks for all the help! im loving the car so far!

after this, i did some sleuth work and found out the actual clutch that was purchased (called the shop that did the work), this is the clutch kit that was installed:

For some reason, they did not record the odometer when they did the work, so i have no idea when or if the break-in period was actually followed properly.
