I have an Evo 8 (2003 RS) with just shy of 50K miles on it and my clutch is almost gone. Starting slipping a couple weeks ago, and now is almost undriveable. Slips even at fairly low RPMs. My car is fairly stock except for a few upgrades (see my signature line for details). I don't ever track it but I do drive fairly aggressively on the street.
What are your recommendations for the best clutch for my daily driving needs and pocketbook?
Also, do I need to change the whole thing and flywheel, or just change out the clutch disc?
Any advice would be most welcome.

with your mods. I would suggest a stock clutch for cheap. I use an exedy twin disk, and its ok at best for dd.
I also reused the throwout bearing... that is a huge regret.
stock clutch delivers good enough for your mods, and will be quiet.

I am thinking about the Competition Stage 2 Clutch. Any opinions?
Also, i am told I need to replace the wavelock clip and release bearing at the same time...is that correct?

Don't get a twin disk like retards near me.They have lightly modded riced out evos and they use twin disk for no reason they don't race they just go to car shows.Comp stage 2 is a good option I had and it was good to 425ft lbs of torque.

i just installed the comp stage 3.5 in mine and it grabs pretty hard... i upgraded from an ACT HDSS. replace the release bearing/ throwout bearing when you change out your clutch. it is also a good idea to change out your clutch line and fluids for the tranny and diff while your at it and it should feel brand new again. remember to break the clutch in properly, as far as the flywheel just get it resurfaced at the machine shop, whom ever is installing the clutch should be able to get that done for you.

Before I went to a triple i used an ACT 6 puck. I loved the clutch, although it was supper grabby and most ppl probably wouldn't enjoy it for DD. Plate clutches IMO are the best for performance and DD, but they're also a lot of money and pointless to get unless you're going to do some major engine modz.
From what i hear (and others have recommended) Competition makes a decent middle of the road clutch. One thing to remember, people often refer to a clutch as to how much WHP it can take, that’s not what you want to look at, TQ is what matters when it comes to clutch holding capacity.
