Blew my motor!!!
Blew my motor!!!
So here it goes, I have a Evo IX MR that has all bolt ons and I recently had a HKS fcon Vpro 3.3 installed with a HKS AFK. Long story short I was doing a couple pulls vs. my buddy in a Evo X which all went fine and dandy. We ended up slowing down and driving with the rest of the traffic, we were coming of a over pass on to another road and when I went to merge and stepped on it I noticed my boost gauge only showed 6-8 psi. So I pulled over got out and popped the hood, though I lost a boost line with closer inspection we noticed there was a knock that sounded like it was coming from the top end. Shut it down and called a tow truck. After an hours wait tow truck showed up and the guy turned out to be pretty awesome offering to tow it for free about 40 clicks to my house if I was willing to give him a ride once it was fixed. Finally got it home and into the garage started ripping it apart and fond that piston 4 had melted and did some banging of the cylinder head. Which was disappointing but at the same time got me excited about a complete engine rebuild. So after a ton of reading and trying to diagnose the problem people were starting to blame it on my tuner which in all honesty I started leaning towards as well, but I didn't wan to point fingers and accuse any body until I found the root of it all. Finally I decided to pull out my meter and test the injector resistor pack, and boom injector 4 fail.
I started looking into ordering parts and accidentally came across a thread started by Michael from ETS about evo X parts, sent him a pm and he had Robert contact me about what I needed. Needless to say I'm glad I came across that thread. After a few to many phone calls and questions Robert still kept cool and treated me like a friend. After a few searches and phone calls the guys at ETS had the best prices around for what I needed even lower than the guys that claim they got the best price. Finally got the parts I want all ordered for an unbeatable price and also a few extras that still came out cheaper than the competition for the parts I only needed. Highly recommend ETS as everyone's first choice.
Now the waiting game is on for the parts to arrive so I can start building it. I thought the world had slowed down and stopped but Robert made the experience as simple as possible. I will post pictures of before and after and everything in between as soon as I get a chance.
Ordered all new internals top to bottom, exedy dual clutch and a spark tech coil pack which I hope will be more than enough to reach my goals on this build.
Just happy to be back on track and can't thank ETS enough. Look forward to a turbo from them as well as soon as its broken back in.

couldn't agree more.they really do help out on prices when they have room.
also i am putting a new motor/turbo in and bought the turbo from them.i also am running a catch can with 2 -8an lines off the VC into the baffled can and then 1 -10 line off the can into the air inlet.
i called to ask if the had a 4" turbo inlet/air intake that had a -10an fitting on it or could they modifiy the one they have on the website with a 3/8" barb fitting.
he said to just send my old one in and they'll weld a -10an fitting on my intake pipe for me and even use my fitting for guess how much?
a mere $25.unbelievable that they would even bother with it period much less do it for $25.
unheard of customer service and pricing.
sorry for the long winded story but i have been sweating getting that fitting installed for days,b/c i know i am going to have excess crankcase pressure running 40psi.

Thanks guys! Robert is a new guy we have here, but he has been in the scene for a while. He worked at a local performance parts store before coming to help us out. He has been a great addition to the team.
If anyone has questions or need a price quote, don't hesitate and let us help you out. We work directly with several manufacturers and have access to over 200 brands.
Thanks!
Michael

Luckily I am wanting more parts. Just a matter of getting around one obsticle and I hate arguing with her but I'll give you guys a call this week.
luckily mine has no concept of car parts and no desire to learn about car parts,so a $4000 turbo kit could be the same as a $400 exhaust system to her.

Haha neither does mine but the amount of times my door bell has been rung in the last little while and the number of boxes sitting in the garage $400 purchases add up fairly quickly.

i have been getting a package or two everyday for 2-3 weeks.it's crazy and honestly most are pretty cheap, lots of little stuff like bolts, fittings, etc but i need to slow it down myself.i'm on a first name basis with the UPS and the FedEx guy now.
^^^ haha that's awesome. I wish they were big purchases I'm rebuild the whole engine top to bottom and Im pretty sure her eyes might fall out of her head when she sees the number of boxes including new clutch and coil pack. And I still need a intake manifold, fuel rail injectors and pump. Man it's gonna be awesome to come home from work to that battle.
That's awesome man. Good luck lol. I looked into one too but rumor has it Cosworth is going to start making 4g63 long blocks again. And for the amount that they cost from all the vendors I might as well see what they can do for me.
sending you a PM,i have an engine builder solution that is still economical.
Cosworth would be sweet and they have a nice warranty.
good luck with the build.

I admire your ability to look at something very negative straight in the face and flip it around into a positive, exciting experience. That is tight. I'm happy for you, let us know how it all goes.
