will the Driveshaft handle a 2.3 stroker?

It may be a dumb question, but i've looked and cant seem to find anything about it. i'm doing a 2.3 stroker on my 03 Evo 8 and was just wondering if i should look into upgrading my driveshaft any time soon? or anything else i should be looking to upgrade? Yes i will be taking it to the track but only a couple times... <- if that helps.

Thanks, Mike

How much tq? Anything over 500 and things break I am over 650tq but my driveshaft is doing fine but I do not drag the car.

Your question is not dumb but if you want a good answer you must provide us with allot more detail.

Makes perfect sense sorry about that. i just spun a bearing in my car so i decided to go with the AMS 2.3 stroker kit, and GSC S2 cams/springs/retainers, i have 3" exhaust, Upper Injen intercooler piping, Custom LICP, 4" godspeed intercooler, ACT 6 puck, 255 walbro, ID1000cc injectors and ported turbo manifold. Right now I am keeping my stock 8 Turbo because this build pushed me back quite a bit. So right now i do not have the extra cash to spend on a upgraded turbo but in the near future i will be upgrading. I dont know how much power i'll be making with these parts i just know i will have more torque with the stroker and didnt know if it could handle it.. Thanks again.

You will be fine the only time you run in to trouble is when you go to the track and launch the car on slicks. Or you are making crazy tq numbers. I run a 2.4 with a fp3586

okay perfect because i just spent alot of money and didnt want to have to spend any more then i need to right now. i wont be running slicks just my stock wheels. NICEEE!! what turbo would you recommend for me when im ready to upgrade? i was thinking, Precision 62/62, FP black or green. what would be best for a 2.3L because i heard they lose a lot of top end power?

6262 going to be a stretch unless you went for one of the upgraded 2.3,like the 2.3RR.i wouldn't take a basic 2.3 much past 7500 and the 6262 is going to leave you with a max 3000rpm powerband if your lucky.

3582 might be good for you, unless of course you got the 2.3RR,then go ahead with the 6262.

is there a big chance i will break one of those? or a slight chance? i really only want to drag it once or twice just to see my time then when i have a chance and money to build my trans/tc/drive shaft then i can do it as much as i want lol.

also will it most likely break on launches or just driving?

thanks guys for the help
