I was wondering how to ID an Evo 8 hotside. I know they are 9.8's (2003), but is it cast in it? I know the IX 10.5's are cast in. The number on this one looks like it says 11.5? and its dual flapper, that may give it away immediately, I just dont know. Any help is appreciated.

Yes it is cast into it. There is a thread comparing the different hotsides and it goes into detail about how to determine it.

It is stamped where hot side meets exhaust manifold I believe.

Nope. There is no such MHI critter.

 

Look. Relax. Over the years, I have had most every MHI Evo turbine housing in my hands at one time or another(9.0, 9.8, 10.5 single-flap, & 10.5 dual-flap). I remember that particular one very clearly. I asked myself the same question that you are asking. I just don't recall which MHI housing of the above listed four has the 11.5 number cast on it. Unfortunately, I am not home now. Otherwise I'd gladly go out in the garage and check for you.

 

It was the turbo that came on the car when I bought it. Turbo is def an 8, i thought the hotside may have been switched out. Its been in the shed for a while, i pulled it out the other day and saw the numbers, thought it was weird.
