I hear a lot about this turbo. Is the ball bearing version really that much better?

that would depend if they are using stock thrust washers as found in one customers turbo.
and if you're racing your car that will experience oil surge. This will destroy it and your investment very quickly. BB will take more abuse.

When I first got to the forum I read all about the turbos and there was a post saying that JB Turbos were garbage. I mean can they hold up to DD Street Style Driving (very spirited) or what? That's all I want it for.
BB do take more abuse but every turbo has its limit. I see more people pushing the limit of a turbo and complaining that its garbage when it breaks. As far as the JB green, Ive had mine on for over a year running road course and occasional drag at the 1/4 and have not had any problems nor shaft play. Its also a DD running 33psi if that gives credit.

yes i had a porsche...dont drink and post...lol...car is way overpriced for what it is...maintinace high, engine cost as much as an evo.... big modding tax...and honestly not built for a 6'3 240lbs man...neither is lotus but it has a one of a kind sterring feel which no car ive driven can duplicate...vette/viper sold because i have 5 kids and they sat in garage...the only car in that list still in my garage is the lotus and evo...pics are in my profile...
jojipoji...how you like that gtr...i have driven a few, beat one with 600whp at road course for first in class locally by .1 seconds..I was obviously the better driver.....great car...i know dtc is faster...just like my manual...
