Please Help! Problem with bolts that hold turbo to mani

Hey guys, im trying to replace my header and 02 housing today. Everything was going so smooth untill i got the header turbo and 02 housing out in one peace. I am now trying to separate the turbo from the header. I was able to break the bolts free but there are two nuts that im having trouble with. when i try to loosen them the stud just turns. ive gotten the studs about half way out but they dont seem to come any further. i really dont want to snap them.Ive been soaking them with pb blaster for about 20 hours now and i still have no luck. any ideas? i need the car finished for monday morning i dont know what to do.

tap and dye, then drill it out and re-thread the hole

Be extremely careful. The cast iron is a mother to drill out and tap. Those are hardened steel bolts/studs and when they break they take forever to drill out. I just finished the same situation for a buddy the other day. Not fun. You can try to walk the stud out by loosening and tightening back and forth and see if it will come out slowly. But chances are, since it is already locking down, its gonna break. Just be patient with it, use a torch if you can to heat the housing up, it will help. And be sure to use a good quality tap or rethreader when chasing the threads. Good luck, I know it sucks.

Buy a Bolt extractor kit seen them at harbor freight, when u put the new hardware in use anti seize and when removido our maní to turbo bolts or downpipe bolts use pb blaster on them first before attempting to loosen limits chance of this happening had same issue before. Good luck dye n tap kit after extracting bolt.

Hey guys thanks for the help. I ended up trying to loosen it by tightening it all the way and slowly loosening it with a torch. It was working but at that rate it would of taken days and my arms would have fallen off. I ended up getting so fed up with it i took it to a buddys house and just put a half inch drive air gun to it. Both studs stayed in place and the nuts kept spinning but still wouldnt come off! So i but a big *** screw driver between the manifold and the tubo and pryed them apart as he heated them up and spun them off. The threads ended up being damaged at the top. So we cut the damaged part off with an air tool and put new nuts on. Ended up working out great. Cars back together and sounds awesome.

I stripped one of mine out just like you a couple weeks ago... Ended up having to tap and die it. Just use a torque wrench when you reinstall and make sure its solid. Use a new gasket of course. working fine so far.
