Clutch, is mine gone????

Well, I think it happened. After a few track events, everything seemed fine. I was driving around with my nephew, and he was begging for a launch. So I revved to 4500-5000, dropped the clutch, massive awd dig, tires finally stopped spinning, grabbed, and then the car lurched forward for about 1 second, then RRRRRREEEEEEEEEVVVVVVVVV, and then grab again? I thought if the clutch was failing, it would have failed in every gear, but it was fine, the rest of the pull? I just thought I hit it again with my foot, because it did so well. HOwever, when I stopped, it STUNK, but there was no difference in driving, so I thought it was a fluke. Did I hurt this thing, or is this normal for a pull like that? I only track this car, and very rarely does it hit the street. So I am thinking Iam just paranoid. If I had a problem, what would it be like?

That wasn't the wheels spinning in first gear, it was the clutch. As long as the clutch is fully engaged before you go WOT it should last for a while for daily driving....but don't do any more launches untill you have a new clutch sitting at home waiting to go in the car.

What is a good one to go with? I don't want to spend a fortune, and I am NOT going to the strip, just open track.

So would open track events, count as pushing? I don't launch hard, it is pretty much WOT after the clutch is out.

I have done a few lapping days in the evo and the stock clutch is fine if you know how to drive. Also I am putting down about 350whp and can spin all 4 tires if I floor it in 1st without dumping the clutch

My clutch is still ok, but I'm planning to upgrade to ACT. A good way to test your clutch is to stomp on the gas from a slow, 3rd gear roll. If the clutch is shot, you'll feel it slipping.

I was quoted $500 for clutch installation. You can pick up the ACT clutch for around $550.

easiest way to check is put the car into 4th or fifth at around 1500 rpm....then floor the car...if the revs build and car goes nowhere, its the clutch...if not, the clutch is still in ok shape.
