My Exedy Twin disc is loud - it was definitely louder when it was first installed. The best description I have heard used for the sound that it makes is, "a coffee can full of marbles."

I am also interested in what you find, because I am purchasing an exedy twin disk clutch for my evo 9 and want to know in case I have the same issue.
